Sandy H. Straus is an engineer, inventor, licensed contractor, and founder and CEO of ESRA Consulting Corporation ™  (ESRA). She holds two patents associated with automated devices and systems to rapidly screen the masses for vision, cognition, and skills with applications in areas such as health, transportation licensing, and voting processes.  She is also the co-inventor of the automated screening tools, the Automatic Trail Making Test ™ and the Automatic Clock Drawing Test ™ .  The Automatic Trail Making Test ™ is used by the United States Military.  This tool is used to rapidly and effectively detect Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) of the masses.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends the Clock Drawing Test and the Trail Making Test Part B to screen the cognition of older drivers.

Sandy H. Straus now has several patents pending products associated with devices, methods, and systems associated with waste disposal, pest repellent, and lighting, and vision safety.

Sandy H. Straus is the author of several key United States Department of Transportation (DOT) publications and numerous scientific and technical journal articles.  Her DOT publications are the gold standard on automated vision screening tests and overweight vehicles (pavement damage estimation and truck-only lane designs) and are featured in the media.

Sandy H. Straus studied at the University of Arizona College of Mines.  She received a B.S. in Geological Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida International University.  She studied failure analysis, seismology, stratigraphy and sedimentation, deformable body mechanics, geophysics, structural geology, tunneling, rock mechanics, groundwater mechanics, computer applications, petrology, and mineralogy, among other subjects.

Her Ph.D. studies in Mechanical Engineering focused on fluid mechanics, heat transfer, computational fluid dynamics. parallel computing, and complex fluid flow field simulation research and development.

Following Hurricane Andrew, Sandy H. Straus held the third top engineering post in a government agency in South Florida in what was then considered the fasting growing region in the United States.  She was responsible for inspections of foundations and structures.  She also issued Certificates of Occupancy for residential properties and commercial buildings. She oversaw the work of thousands of construction workers in the field.

As one of the only women in the USA who is dual-licensed as a General Contractor with a specialty in blasting, Sandy H. Straus has developed many safety and security modules as these relate to explosives safety and incident awareness.  The United States Department of Defense has recognized her efforts.  She has also provided consulting services to many government agencies, defense contractors, tribes, and large private companies for over fifteen years.

Sandy H. Straus is laser-focused on achieving the design, development, and manufacture of safe, green, and organic

solutions to complex challenges.
